Aqua CMS started life as WidgetSprocket in 2001 by Easyzone Ltd. WidgetSprocket was developed by Easyzone Ltd to help their designers publish sites effortlessly. In November 2007 it was taken over by LTS Media who then rewrote most of the underlying engine to suit it's clients needs. LTS Media then rebranded the system as Aqua CMS and made it available as a beta to existing users in mid January 2008.
After testing, bug fixes and user interface enhancements as per client requests LTS Media releases version 1.0 available for download under the GNU license (opensource) on the 23rd April 2008. The official sourceforge.net pages went live on the 23rd of April with the system freely available for download.
Development has started on version 1.1 which is due for beta release in June 2008.
